Classes For Children

Fall 2010 Classes: September 20 - December 17 No classes Monday October 11 (Columbus Day) and November 22-26 (Thanksgiving Week)  Enroll Now!  Download a Registration Form and submit it with payment via U.S. mail, by fax to 718-260-9402 or stop by Families First.  Please Do Not email credit card numbers. Note: Your family must be a member of Families First to enroll in children's classes. Use the Registration Form to indicate which type of membership you would like for your family. Click here for more information on membership. Trial Classses: Try any class for $10. If you enroll in a class you tried, we will prorate the class fee beginning on the date of your trial and we will apply your $10 to the class fee. We do not offer trial classes for Practically Preschool except during our Open House week, September 13-17, 2010. Complete our Registration Form to join.

Siblings: Enroll siblings in the same class and take $20 off one class fee. Practically Preschool: Enroll one child in 2 or more Practically Preschool classes per session and take 10% off the class with the lowest price. Practically Preschool  Royce McCornack, Tejal Shah, Gabrielle Moisan ages 18 months to 3.5 years  It's a bridge to preschool, an enriching playgroup, and a gentle introduction to classroom time. In Practically Preschool, children and their adults explore the world of the classroom: free play, table time, art projects, stories, sing-a-longs, circle time, snack, and having fun!  After children and adults attend class together for a while, when children become more independent, adults eventually leave the classroom. Adults wait at our center while children work and play together in the classroom (usually after children are 24 months old). (Receive a 10% discount if you enroll one child in 2 or more Practically Preschool classes/week.) 18-24 months Tuesday, Thursday 9:30-10:30, 10:45-11:45 24-30 months Tuesday, Thursday 11:30-12:30 Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:15-10:15 2.5-3.5 years Tuesday, Thursday 9:15-11:15, 1:00-3:00 Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:30-12:30   Arts and Crafts Art Starts 2-3 years Students explore the creative process of making arts and crafts using a variety of materials. Adult caregivers will also pick up some tips for helping children make art at home. (Gabrielle Moisan) ECO-Art 3-4 years Kids will paint, sculpt, and form with recycled materials such as paper, cardboard, packing material, and more. Learn how easily-found materials can lead to some of the most creative projects. schedule Music Tiny Tunesters 10 months - 3 years A whole lot of singing, signing, rhythm-making, story-telling, dancing, and playing. Kids will rock the basic music fundamentals as they explore musical fun.   La La Lullabies adults with precrawling babies More lullabies, the classic lullabies, and the words and tunes you need to send your tiny tunester to dreamland. Bring your baby and your singing voice - no talent required. Your baby will love to hear you sing and so will we. All participants will receive song lyrics and a CD of lullabies. Movement GoGo Babies 6 weeks- 18 months Using balls, scarves, bubbles, and musical instruments, adults move with babies to enhance sensorimotor development and integration, develop social and emotional skills, support healthy digestion and sleep, instill a sense of rhythm and beat, and have fun, too. An interactive, joyful class for baby and parent/caregiver. Adults must be able to sit on the floor with baby on lap. schedule Science Little Scientists 2.5 years+ Hands-on learning about our environment. Children explore plants, animals, climate, and more through crafts, experiments, and projects. schedule
