The Little House Cooking Club: Frontier-inspired recipes for today's kids
3:15pm to 4:15pm
Join our intro to cooking class for 2nd and 3rd graders! It will be a fun flashback to the days of pioneers girls and boys. Using whole foods and all-natural ingredients, kids will learn basic cooking (and STEM!) skills: mixing, chopping, measuring, and the hour-long class will give them confidence in the kitchen. Recipes will be based on those in the Little House Cookbook and others from that time period, and might include items such as johnny cakes, corn dodgers, ginger water, pancake men, pickles and so on.
Materials and ingredients will be provided

hands-on and interactive math enrichment

Spring session begins April 11th and goes until June 13th
(Geometry unit will be covered during this session)
Join a new series of enrichment classes for 1st and 2nd graders focusing on topics that aren't typically found in the classroom. Students are introduced to higher-level math concepts through mathematical exploration, discovery and experimentation. Because the focus is on enrichment, as opposed to acceleration, students of all math abilities and interests learn something new and find something to get excited about. Topics include probability, number theory, estimation, set theory, and an introduction to algebra. Parents receive a weekly email explaining what was discussed in class, the broader mathematical framework, and potential follow-ups at home.
Time: 4:00 to 4:45
Location: Families First, 250 Baltic St
Price: $250 for the full 10-week session
